It´s been a big period of renovations at the Fairmont Mayakoba, with various projects completed in 2021 and several more expected to be finished over this summer. The luxury resort is located on the beautiful Riviera Maya coastline within the opulent, gated Mayakoba community. Guest rooms and amenities lie amongst lush tropical forest, mangroves, lagoons, and a stretch of white sand beach.
The new developments include a beach club that will offer a restaurant and grill, private cabañas, an adjacent pool, and a rooftop with breathtaking views of the surroundings. In the center of the hotel, La Laguna restaurant and pool will enjoy a peaceful setting, with the eatery´s outside area romantically overlooking Mayakoba´s water canals. An additional restaurant, Trattoria, has been planned to sit in front of La Laguna´s pool, serving up Italian cuisine including home-made pizzas and wine. Espressos, snacks, and traditional bread will be available at Café Maya, also found in the center of the resort, with a design that plays with textures, shadows, wooden boxes, and stone plinths.
Completed expansions include a bar, restaurant, beach club, and room refurbishments. Hix Lobby Bar and Lounge is named after the Maya word for ´jaguar´. A known symbol of protection, the concept is manifested through two large jaguar sculptures set on the bar, hand painted in black and white. Tauro restaurant uses Mexican ingredients and steakhouse techniques to create a fine dining experience for foodies with a raw bar, prime cuts, and a 2-course all-inclusive menu option. La Playita is another brand-new beach club overlooking the turquoise sea, with no less then three pools for guests to take a refreshing swim. As of this April, 188 out of a total of 401 rooms have been fully renovated, with the rest awaiting a refresh by the end of 2022.
