Palmaïa, brought to us by The House of AïA, is situated on the south side of Playa del Carmen, on its own exclusive beach enclave with beautiful mangroves. All 234 suites are oceanfront, with a private terrace for gazing out to the blue waters of the Mexican Caribbean. The several different layout choices provide a great fit for everybody,
including family, king, and swim-out suites. As part of the hotel’s plant-based mission, each of the accommodations is Vegan-friendly with zero use of animal or animal-tested products, and feather-free bedding.

The innovative resort has several dining options that encompass an array of flavors, from Mexican fine dining, to Mediterranean, and Far-Eastern fusion. The thoughtfully planned menus are prepared with full, plant-based ingredients that showcase vegan cuisine. As Palmaïa respects that not everyone can be vegan, there are options for fish and meat-eaters too, while still having the perfect opportunity to try fresh and surprising plant-based flavors.

Water lovers are spoilt for choice with 4 infinity pools overlooking some 700 meters of untouched beach, 2 pool bars, and 2 Jacuzzi-style plunge pools that blend into the beachfront jungle. Waiter service, strategic shade systems, hammocks and Balinese sun-beds add a touch of luxury.

The Atlantis jungle Spa presents a whole world of healing opportunities, to be explored through its impressive curation of treatments, classes and rituals. During Palmaïa´s construction, the team worked around the natural landscape of jungle and cenotes rather than replacing them and has integrated native plant reproduction programs. The property has implemented numerous practices to reduce its negative impact on the environment including a zero single-use plastic policy at the property; guests receive a refillable tumbler at check-in to avoid using plastic water bottles, all bathroom amenities are refillable with biodegradable ingredients, and room keys are made with wood and thread to replace plastic.

Waste materials are sold and sent to recycling (PET, aluminum, cardboard, light/hard plastic, cans, paper), all vehicles on the premises are electric, all light points use saving energy-saving light bulbs, and Palmaïa ´s staff takes part in beach cleanups on a regular basis. A large amount of the restaurant´s produce is sourced locally to reduce food miles, and all guest rooms are vegan friendly, with no animal products, amenities, furniture in them.

Palmaïa organises visits to Nuevo Durango, a Mayan community focused on protecting the environment and local Maya culture. All proceeds go to the community to support its entrepreneurial projects, including beekeeping and organic honey production, a wild animal sanctuary, and greenhouse construction for organic crops.
