12-Day Journey Through Community Traditions from Mexico City to the Coastal South

A full day exploring the Milpa Alta community's sustainable farming legacy and culinary heritage. Follow "La Ruta de la Milpa" through organic nopal cactus fields before enjoying a countryside breakfast, then visit a local mole factory to see the traditional sauce ground by hand. Renowned chef Jorge Córcega leads a hands-on corn workshop covering nixtamalization and masa preparation, making tortillas, sopes, and tamales alongside a mezcal or beer. The day concludes with a signature 4-course lunch by Chef Córcega paired with Mexican wine. This experience includes a $20 USD donation supporting the Milpa Alta community's water collection system for local crops.

Journey to the historic seaside city of Campeche, stopping in Becal to join artisans hand-weaving jipijapa (Panama) hats from dried palm leaves, crafted traditionally in caves. Continue to Campeche to explore its colonial history through forts built to defend against pirates and the Land Gate and Sea Gates. Stroll down the lively 59th Street and enjoy a leisurely lunch at a celebrated seafood restaurant before the drive back to Mérida.

Travel from Mérida to Mexico's most iconic archaeological site, Chichén Itzá, learning about Maya cosmology, religion, and daily life while visiting the Pyramid of Kukulkán, Platform of the Skulls, and the ancient ball court. Continue to a cenote set within the ruins of a historic ranch, where you'll have private access to swim and relax, followed by a Yucatecan lunch served in the gardens. Arriving to Chablé Maroma in the Riviera Maya, check in for a 4-night stay at this secluded beachfront retreat where each villa has a private plunge pool.
