Capella Pedregal resort in Cabo San Lucas, one of the world’s Top 50 Most Outstanding Hotels in the World according to Travel +Leisure, is known for creating innovative experiences and this fall the ultra-luxury property will introduce its own private line of wines. Unique Collection Private Reserve, which has been in the making for over two years, was publicly debuted at the resort’s annual food and wine event, Taste Of Capella Food & Wine Festival, last July with plans to be available exclusively to guests of the resort later this year.
Capella’s Wine Director, Eduardo Contreras Pérez, and his team of sommeliers, curated the wine from start to finish visiting different wineries in Mexico. Pérez commented on the process, “”We conduct heavily regimented processes with the vineyards in Mexico to select the best varietals, ensure the highest level of quality control and keep an eye on the aging process.” One of the wines that resulted from the selection process is a red from Hacienda a Lomita in the Valle de Guadalupe, one of Mexico’s premier vineyards.
“Not many people know that Mexico is one of the oldest producers of wine in the world,” Pérez shared, “Mexico is undergoing a wine revolution now and we’re seeing a lot of powerful flavors making an impact on connoisseurs traveling to Mexico and Cabo in particular. I think in a few years you will see Mexican wines become a staple feature in the U.S.”
In excitement to launch their wine officially and incorporate it into their annual festival, Capella is offering Taste Of Capella Food & Wine Festival 2015 packages (July 15-19, 2015). During the festival, attendees at the luxury resort will have the opportunity to participate in a wine tasting with master sommeliers who will teach about the blends, flavors and process of making Mexican wines; a crafted cocktail demonstration where a Mixologist will be creating hand crafted spirits including their specialties; and a tequila seminar where a Maestro Tequilero will explain the process of making tequila and how to determine exceptional quality. The resort promises an unforgettable weekend of chef camaraderie, culinary ambrosia, and fine wine experiences, complimented by the panoramic beauty that defines Capella Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas.
