Guests are met at La Paz International Airport by a private driver and transferred approximately 23 minutes to central La Paz. Check-in for a 5-night stay at Hotel Baja Club, a beautifully restored 20th-century villa on the coastal boardwalk. The hotel blends sophisticated, homely décor with deep red and blue tile work, a central patio pool, and a rooftop sunset bar overlooking the Sea of Cortez, an ideal base for exploring La Paz's beaches, snorkeling, and whale shark encounters.
To begin the day, get involved with local conservation teams at your choice of project: coral restoration and snorkeling with a Baja non-profit, or traditional cultivation techniques with oysters, crabs, and starfish at a pearl cultivation laboratory. The day continues with a visit to La Paz's Whale Museum, followed by guide recommendations for lunch (not included). Optionally, take a guided walk around La Paz's downtown boardwalk, markets, and Mi Ciudad Mural Project, before a private transfer to your hotel.
Journey along the Pacific coast to the fishing village of Puerto Chale (2.5-hour drive) and board a private boat with your naturalist guide. Head out to explore the mangroves and southern portion of Magdalena Bay, searching for the migrating gray whales that come to mate and calve. Enjoy lunch and drinks before the return drive to La Paz.
Overnight: Hotel Baja ClubHead into the Cacachilas mountains with your private guide, visiting a sustainable working ranch that incorporates rotational grazing and land regeneration practices into its operations. Learn how to make cheese with techniques passed down through generations and meet the resident goats, before sitting down for a farm-to-table lunch prepared with hyper-local, organic ingredients. A private transfer to your hotel closes the day.
Take a boat excursion from La Paz Bay to the UNSECO-listed Espíritu Santo Island. Guided by your private naturalist, hike one of eight marked trails - from light scenic walks to longer treks - with sweeping views over the Gulf of California. The day flows between a picnic lunch, snorkeling in clear waters, and (outside the June-August mating season) an in-water visit to the island's playful sea lion colony.
